DFM2HTML Software License
This page describes the license terms that govern your use of the DFM2HTML desktop software. By downloading, installing, or using DFM2HTML, you agree to the terms below. This license covers the grant of rights, permitted uses, restrictions, intellectual property, disclaimers, and termination conditions. If you have questions about anything on this page, please reach out through the contact page.
License Grant
Subject to the terms and conditions of this license, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the DFM2HTML software on computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. This license permits you to use the software for personal, educational, and commercial purposes. You may install the software on multiple computers that you own or control, provided each installation is used by a single user at a time.
Permitted Uses
Under this license, you may:
- Install and run DFM2HTML on any compatible Windows computer you own or control
- Use the software to create, edit, and publish HTML pages and web sites for any lawful purpose
- Use the built-in templates as starting points for your own projects
- Distribute, sell, or publish the HTML files, web pages, and sites you create with the software without restriction or attribution
- Use the software for client work, freelance projects, educational exercises, and internal business tools
- Make a reasonable number of backup copies of the installer for your own archival purposes
The web pages and files you create using DFM2HTML are your own intellectual property. The software is a tool. You own what you build.
Restrictions
Under this license, you may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software except to the extent permitted by applicable law
- Redistribute, sublicense, rent, or lease the software or installer packages to third parties
- Host the installer packages on third party download sites or software repositories without written permission
- Modify the software binaries or create derivative works based on the software itself
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices, labels, or markings on the software
- Use the software in any manner that violates applicable local, national, or international laws
- Claim authorship of the software or misrepresent its origin
Intellectual Property
The DFM2HTML software, including its code, user interface, documentation, icons, and template designs, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. This license does not transfer ownership of the software to you. You receive only the rights expressly granted in this license. All rights not explicitly granted are reserved.
The templates included with the software are provided as functional starting points for your projects. You may use them freely in the pages you build. However, the template files themselves, as distributed with the software, remain the intellectual property of DFM2HTML and may not be extracted and redistributed as standalone template packages.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the software is with you. Should the software prove defective, you assume the cost of all necessary servicing, repair, or correction.
This disclaimer is consistent with how desktop software has been licensed for decades. A visual HTML editor interacts with operating system APIs, file systems, and browser rendering engines that are outside our control. We test across common configurations but cannot guarantee behavior on every possible system setup.
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the authors, contributors, or distributors of DFM2HTML be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising in any way from the use of or inability to use the software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. This limitation applies regardless of the cause of action or the legal theory under which damages are sought.
Termination
This license is effective until terminated. Your rights under this license will terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the software and destroy all copies in your possession. Termination does not affect any web pages or sites you created while the license was in effect. Those remain your property.
Updates and Maintenance
This license applies to the version of the software you download and install. Future versions may carry updated license terms. Downloading a new version constitutes acceptance of the license terms included with that version. There is no obligation to provide updates, maintenance releases, or support under this license.
Governing Terms
If any provision of this license is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. This license constitutes the entire agreement between you and DFM2HTML regarding the software and supersedes any prior agreements or understandings.
